When my husband Lauri was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, our world shifted. I became his full-time carer, unable to leave the house, and emotionally overwhelmed. Then Hospice at Home Volunteers stepped in — and everything changed.
Pam, one of their Volunteers, brought light into our lives. Her visits gave Lauri joy and companionship, and gave me the chance to step outside, knowing he was safe and cared for. She learned his favourite films, his music, even how he liked his coffee. He greeted her with a smile every time.
Even after Lauri moved into a care home — and later, after he passed away — Pam continued to support me. She became more than a volunteer; she became a friend.
I’m deeply grateful to Hospice at Home and their incredible volunteers. You gave us dignity, relief, and kindness when we needed it most.
Thank you.
